Daily word game
How to play Between
Find a hidden English word by following alphabetical clues. Between is a free daily word game with unlimited guesses and no timer: a little wordplay, at your own pace.

The rules
Try a word
Enter an English dictionary word and submit it. Words use letters without spaces or punctuation. Invalid words and repeated guesses do not count, so you can explore without using up an attempt.
Follow alphabetical order
A down arrow (↓) means the answer comes later in the dictionary. An up arrow (↑) means it comes earlier. These are alphabetical clues, rather than clues about meaning or word length.
Close the gap
Use your closest earlier and later guesses as boundaries for the next word. Guesses stay in alphabetical order, and the alphabet map shows the range you have earned. Boundary letters can still be right.
An example, without today’s answer
Imagine the answer is peach. Guessing mango gives ↓ later; guessing tulip gives ↑ earlier. That leaves a word somewhere between mango and tulip. Peach fits inside that range and solves this example.
When words share a beginning, compare the first letter that differs. For example, car comes before card, and card comes before care. A guess inside your current bounds helps narrow the search further.
Easy, Standard, and Expert
Easy draws from 3,000 possible answers, Standard from 10,000, and Expert from the full word bank. Each level has its own daily word, saved game, and statistics. Everyone playing the same level on the same day gets the same answer.
You can switch levels without losing a draft. There is no timer or guess limit on any level, so choose the word pool you feel like exploring.
Using the dictionary
Browse answers shows words from the selected level’s answer pool. You can narrow the list with a prefix or browse inside your current alphabetical bounds. Choosing a word fills the input; you still decide when to submit it.
Opening Browse answers marks that level’s puzzle as assisted for the day, even if you do not choose a word. Reading the rules does not. Assisted solves still count as completions and streak days.
Daily play & progress
When is the next puzzle?
New puzzles arrive at midnight in Vancouver. The Next puzzles countdown shows the time until the shared reset, wherever you play.
Do I need an account?
No. You can play for free and keep progress on this browser. Sign in to keep completed puzzles, statistics, and streaks across devices. Unfinished puzzles stay on this device. Bringing existing guest completions into an account is your choice. Clearing browser data can remove device saves.
Can I play offline?
Yes, after a successful online visit has cached the game. The installed release includes the daily puzzles and rules. Account saves sync when you reconnect; a first visit still needs an internet connection.
What counts toward my streak?
Solving at least one puzzle in any game or level counts as a collection streak day. Several solves on the same day still count as one day. Hints and dictionary use count too, with assistance shown honestly in your statistics.
